Wendrika Olofson RYT200

Wendrika found her way to yoga by way of Improvisational Tribal Style belly dance and Indian fusion belly dance, powerful and healing dance forms. With yoga asana, she found a framework for the moving meditation that dance had become, instilling further meaning into her physical practices and gradually informing her everyday life. Along with building balance, strength, and flexibility, the embodied movement of yoga is always teaching Wendrika more about how to quiet the chatter of her busy mind and to listen intently to the silence and wisdom of her body. Wendrika believes that there is so much we can learn from ourselves if we spend time with this practice. As Erich Schiffman says, “yoga is a way of moving into stillness in order to experience the truth of who you are.” Wendrika prefers to move more slowly with asana, finding time to settle into poses and to ’feel’ into the body. Through teaching she intends to share this love for movement and gentle listening, for it is here that we find the love and compassion that can seep out to the world around us. Wendrika wants everyone to know that we have so much power in our own bodies for healing and happiness and that we are never alone in this quest for health, balance, and compassion—there is a long tradition to help guide us on the way. She hopes to practice with you soon!
